Various community leaders support Judge Kay in his re-election bid. The letters below have been printed in our local papers over the last month.
Judge Kay has Experience you can Trust!
Dear Editor:
Think globally and act locally is a favorite mantra guiding responsible citizenship. The phrase is especially applicable as we approach the April 5th election day. I invite you to join me in supporting TIM KAY for re-election to the Lake Country Municipal Court. Judge Kay has managed the largest multi-jurisdictional court in the State of Wisconsin for the past four years. Tim’s reputation as a fair, efficient judge is amplified by his practice of using facts and enforcing existing laws rather than legislating from the Bench. He is a person of consummate professionalism, integrity and dedication to his practice and his community.
I have known TIM KAY for over 15 years and I trust him without reservation. While I value the breadth of his work as a Judge, I am especially appreciative of the commitment he has made to youth and their families. Tim’s approach and the special programs he has implemented have focused on helping youth accept responsibility for their actions while making changes in their lives to prevent future problems. Tim’s ability to enforce the law and hold individuals accountable while fostering their own self improvement is commendable. Without a doubt, Judge Kay Is an asset to the Lake Country area and the citizens he serves.
Please exercise your right and responsibility as a citizen and be sure to vote on April 5th…and join me in voting for TIM KAY for Lake Country Municipal Court. That Is a vote for experience we can trust!

Judge Kay is dedicated to the Community
Dear Editor:
As residents of the Village of Oconomowoc Lake, we plan to vote for Tim Kay for Lake Country Municipal Court Judge on Tuesday, April 5, 2016. We have known Tim Kay and his family since 1996 when our children attended elementary school together. Since that time we have served together on numerous committees and have been family friends as well. We have witnessed Tim’s dedication to our community first-hand as he has tirelessly and passionately volunteered his time, energy and expertise over the years to many committees, endeavors and projects.
Over the last 4 years, Tim Kay has served as an exemplary Lake Country Municipal Court Judge. He has managed the largest multi-jurisdictional court in the State of Wisconsin, presiding over more than 50,000 + cases. This has included numerous young adult drug and alcohol offenders, providing them the opportunity to participate in the “Your Choice” diversionary program. He is committed to the concerning problem of heroin use in our county. He has obtained restitution from hundreds of defendants to victims of crime. He has operated the Court in an accountable and transparent manner.
Tim Kay has been a partner with Kay and Kay Law Firm for 31 years. He has clearly demonstrated his commitment to his community, to Waukesha County and to the Lake Country Municipal Court. He is truly a leader. Without question, he deserves to be re-elected on Tuesday, April 5 as Lake Country Municipal Court Judge. We fully endorse him!
Respectfully,
Dr. Timothy and Kim Schultz, Village of Oconomowoc Lake
Kay cares about Youths in the Community
To the editor:
I am writing to share with you and the Oconomowoc community why I am supporting Judge Tim Kay for re-election to the Lake Country Municipal Court.
Over the past four years Judge Kay has been an incredible administrator of the court. He has managed the court operations in a self-sufficient manner. He has helped to reduce local municipal police officer overtime by modifying the court calendars, which has also helped to reduce citizen court appearances. Judge Kay has operated the court in a fair and transparent manner over the last four years.
It is very impressive to sit in the court and watch him interact with young people who are there for citations. He asks each one how they are going to pay for their ticket and if they answer that their parents are paying it for them, he reminds them that the ticket is due to their negligence and that the fee should be their responsibility, not the parents. He then instructs them to repay their parents by working to earn the money. This goes above and beyond to remind the young people in court of responsibility and consequences of making a mistake. He cares about the youths in the community and wants to see them succeed.
Please join me in re-electing Judge Kay to the Lake Country Municipal Court on April 5th.
Tammy Derynda, Town of Oconomowoc
Support Judge Kay for re-election
Dear editor,
I am writing this letter to share why my husband (Michael Bauer) and I will be supporting the Honorable Timothy Kay for re-election to the Lake Country Municipal Court (LCMC) on April 5.
We believe Judge Kay has done a terrific job over the last four years; he has been an excellent court administrator and judge. He has an exemplary track record, following the letter of the law and ruling in cases based on the facts presented to him. Judge Kay has done a good job enforcing exiting laws and not legislating from the bench.
I had the pleasure of observing Judge Kay in action in December; I was impressed with how he treated the citizens that came before him. He provided a lot of information to those who were in court regarding their options and how the court worked. As an observer, I learned a lot about the LCMC and that Judge Kay is professional, compassionate with the individuals who come before him. He truly represents the people.
Judge Kay has an extensive professional background as a lawyer, prosecutor and judge working in Lake Country for the last 30 years. He has been endorsed by the vast majority of the elected municipal leaders in the area that makes up LCMC (i.e. village presidents, town chairperson, etc). Ten local law-enforcement leaders (i.e. chiefs of police and Sheriff Eric Severson) have also chosen to endorse Judge Kay for a second term. Judge Kay has even been endorsed by several of his colleagues (i.e. judges that represent other municipal courts); all of these endorsements further demonstrate to us that Judge Kay is the right person for the job.
We hope that you will join us as residents of the city of Oconomowoc in supporting Judge Timothy Kay for re-election to the Lake Country Municipal Court.
Lisa Geason-Bauer, Oconomowoc
Judge Kay is an advocate for the youth
Dear editor,
I am writing this letter to share with you and the greater Oconomowoc community why I am supporting Judge Timothy Kay for re-election to the Lake Country Municipal Court. I have known Tim Kay since 2007, and together we have worked successfully on implementing multiple projects for the Oconomowoc Sports Booster Club. Tim has worked hard to be an excellent community leader and advocate for the youth in the Oconomowoc athletics program. Other members of the Booster community also think highly of him, as they named Tim Kay the "Person of the Year — 2015" by the Oconomowoc School Boosters Club.
In addition to volunteering his time with the Boosters, Tim has taken practical and pragmatic steps with the Lake Country Municipal Court (LCMC) to address the drug/alcohol epidemic that is impacting youth and families across the Lake Country Area. Under Judge Kay's leadership, the LCMC began utilizing an alternative sentencing program for youth under the age of 21 regarding drinking and/or drug violations. The goal of the program is to help each participant reduce the risk of developing an alcohol or drug problem and to focus on self-assessments which can help youth understand and accept the need to make changes in their lives.
Adoption of this local diversionary program has helped numerous families and young offenders to change their lives. Judge Kay is a leader who has the community's best interest in mind; he leads by example and will be receiving my vote for Judge on April 5.
Judge Kay has experience I can trust.

Judge Kay has revamped the Court making it more effective and efficient
Dear editor:
I am submitting this letter as an endorsement for Tim Kay, a candidate for the Lake Country Municipal Court Judge. As chair of the Town of Oconomowoc, I have been able to work closely with Judge Kay for a number of years. Prior to being elevated to the bench, Judge Kay was the town prosecutor and did an exemplary job in that position.
Since he has been the judge of our Lake Country Municipal Court, he has absolutely excelled in that position. He not only has the professional demeanor you would hope to see in a judge, but has also completely revamped that court until it is the effective and efficient organization it is today.
He is extremely respected not only by the police officers from the 17 municipalities he presides over, but also has the respect of those defendants who appear before him. As a practicing attorney, I have appeared before Judge Kay on many occasions, and with over 50 years of courtroom experience, can honestly say he does as good a job as any judge I have ever appeared before.
We need Tim Kay to continue as our judge. Please vote accordingly.

Kay has good character and judgment
Dear editor,
Having operated my orthodontic practice in Hartland for 30 years I have seen many issues affecting our community and its young people that comprise the majority of my practice. As a respected attorney for over 30 years and municipal court judge since 2012, Tim Kay is well qualified to preside over the cases before him and make fair and firm judgments.
He has been a personal friend for a long time and has always shown good character and judgment personally and professionally. Tim's visibility in the community and credentials make him the clear choice for this position, and I hope the community at large will support Tim Kay for Lake Country Municipal Judge.
Daniel A. Holzhauer, Hartland
Keep experience on the bench with Kay
To the editor,
For over 30 years, I've had the privilege of knowing Tim Kay both as a friend and businessman. From our days at high school through today, Tim has been a moral, ethical and honorable person dedicated to his family, his faith and his community.
Tim brings over 25 years' experience as a prosecutor, is supported by local law enforcement members, and has resided in the Lake Country his entire life; hence he is a practiced local man who understands our community.
Therefore, please join me on April 5 and vote for Tim Kay to remain our Lake Country Municipal Court Judge.

Kay is the right person for the job!
To the editor,
I am writing to express my support for Tim Kay for the Lake Country Municipal Court Judgeship. Tim’s commitment to the Lake Country community is unsurpassed. Tim has proven over the last 4 years that he is the right person for the job. He is committed to not only ruling in a firm and fair manner, but more importantly has worked proactively to put offenders on the right path moving forward. One example is providing young adults access to drug and alcohol programs. I have worked with Tim in several volunteer positions, and he has tremendous energy and passion for the Lake Country area.
Tim has proven he has all the skills necessary to continue to be an excellent Lake Country Municipal Court Judge. Please join me in voting for Tim Kay on Tuesday April 5th.
Sincerely,
Terry Brandl, Nashotah
Judge Kay is an incredibly advocate for young people
Dear Editor,
I am writing this letter to share with you and the Lake Country community why I am supporting Judge Timothy Kay for re-election to the Lake Country Municipal Court. Over the last four years Judge Kay has implemented an alternative sentencing program for youth under the age of 21, who have drinking or drug citations. The Lake Country Municipal Court implemented the “Your Choice to Live Program” in May of 2013, under the leadership of Judge Kay. The goal of the program is to help each participant reduce the risk of developing an alcohol or drug problem and to focus on self-ˇassessments which can help youth understand and accept the need to make changes in their lives. Allowing families to utilize the “Your Choice to Live Program” has been an incredible addition to our local municipal court.
As the administrator and instructor of the Your Choice to Live DETOUR program, Judge Kay has gone above and beyond to help young people turn their lives around. With the drug epidemic that we are facing today, giving a minor a ticket without education is not going to stop kids from using. Youth and parents need education and that is what DETOUR provides; education that youth and families so desperately need.
Without the strong support of Judge Kay, these young people would wind up in jail, homeless or even worse, dead. By intervening with education at the first sign of trouble, these kids still have a chance to turn their life around. And kids who do have a problem can get additional help if needed. Parents are also mandated to attend a parent night where they learn information on signs and symptoms, drug trends and resources on where to go for additional help. This is crucial. Often times parents don’t know what to look for or where to go. They often feel alone and have no one to talk to. This parent night gives them an opportunity to ask questions and learn more.
Please join me in supporting Judge Tim Kay for re-ˇelection to the Lake Country Municipal Court on Tuesday April 5th, 2016. Judge Kay has experience I can trust!
Sincerely Yours,
Ashleigh Nowakowski, Hartland
Re-elect Judge Kay
Dear Editor:
I whole-heartedly endorse Judge Kay in his bid for re-election to the Lake Country Municipal Court. His approach toward accountability, transparency and personal responsibility is to be commended. He has managed the largest multi-jurisdictional court in Wisconsin in a self-sufficient manner and updated procedures for the 17 municipalities that are represented. I urge you to vote for Judge Kay on April 5th.

If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it! Re-elect Judge Kay
Dear Editor:
If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it. I have been a lifelong resident of the Oconomowoc community. I have reviewed Tim Kay’s campaign material on his Facebook page and website; and have discussed his re-election with friends and neighbors. Judge Kay has protected our community and has kept us all safe. He has the backing of Sheriff Severson and all seven police chiefs and retired police chiefs in the Lake Country Municipal Court (LCMC), as well the Mayor, all Village Presidents and Town Chairs; local Waukesha County Judges and surrounding area Municipal Judges. He has 25 years’ experience as a prosecutor and has been an integral part of the municipal court since its formation in 1988. During his first term as Judge, he has presided over 50,000 + cases (about 200 cases every Friday).
Judge Kay has streamlined procedures to make the court run efficiently and reduce over-time hours for law enforcement officials. When new courts are formed in other areas, they contact Judge Kay for advice. We should be proud that our LCMC is the largest joint municipal court in the State and is a model of efficiency for all other courts. The Court operates at no cost to taxpayers. I know that Judge Kay is tough on crime, takes his job very seriously, and has fostered innovative alternative programs such as “Your Choice Program” for underage drug and alcohol offenders.
Judge Kay’s opponent has no municipal experience, no new ideas, no platform, and no endorsements. Please join me in re-electing Judge Kay to the LCMC. He has experience I trust!
Paul Kopydlowski, Oconomowoc

Judge Kay is an effective court manager . . .“As Chief of Police I have had a number of dealings with Judge Kay regarding administration of the municipal court, especially tied to changes in the state law. In all of my dealings with Judge Kay, he is both honest and forthright in his communications with the municipal members (i.e. communities) of the Lake Country Municipal Court. Judge Kay communicates all court changes, happenings effectively and in a timely manner: allowing our staff, elected officials plenty of time to carry them out.”
